Opening Day!

Main Atrium, ACPL
I'm going to go ahead and declare myself the first person to blog about the new library that opened here today. I also plan to have the first overdue library book there, too.

I should have grabbed a better picture than this, but it was tough with an armful of coats and the occasional kid. But anyway, it's a great place. I can't wait to get to know it. It has scale, coziness, and lets the light in, too. I really like what I've heard about something called the "silent reading room," because I'm all about silence, but I wasn't able to find it today.

I was looking forward to that for years. Way things are looking, I'll probably see it sooner than I expect.

Hey, I was there today with my uncle. It was so crowded. We found the silent reading room, but didn't realize that it was that room. Luckily, there was only other person in there. Not that we were extremely loud or anything. I didn't get to check out any books, because my uncle didn't want to wait in the line.

I can't wait to see it! My brother covered the opening for the News Sentinel (he's majoring in photojournalism) but I haven't had time to check it out yet. I heard it was pretty neat.

Maybe the reason you couldn't find the silent reading room was because it was so quiet. its like a sneaky spy room!

That would have been cool if they built in a secret room behind some sliding bookshelves or something . . . or maybe they did. They could put all the fantasy novels back there.

... I laughed out loud to that!

Wow, it looks more like an airport terminal than anything else. I'm anxious to see it for myself, now.
