Spring Music

Finally, it makes sixty degrees, and I am starting to warm toward of this year's new music. It is Charlotte Gainsbourg for one. The music by Air, no less. That probably has something to do with it. On it's first 6-7 spins, I'm preferring it to the new Air, actually.
And then, really, after Charlotte, it's all Bill Callahan for me lately. Sick this week, my voice could even growl out the country number, "A Man Needs a Woman or a Man to be a Man" that closes his new record. What a cool voice he has. I always had trouble with some of the real early (Smog) stuff he released, but the last 4-5 records by him have been great, I think. I keep singing the line "Fireworks are wasted in the day/ I set 'em off anyway/ to pass the time/ 'til you return/ with fireworks, more fireworks."

Oh Charlotte...the blood of her father certainly runs deep in her--and thank god for that. (Just speaking of Serge makes me want to go listen to "Ford Mustang")...

--You can call me a Judas all you want, but I'm not liking the new AIR at all. I thought it would grow on me...but it's just not. I'm not going to force myself any longer...but it would be cool to see them next month in Chicago...

Yes, new Air is officially out of rotation. They had a good run going there . . . I had no idea they were in Chicago soon. Gotta look into that.

JUST BECAUSE I'M NEVER DONE TALKING: I mean, seriously--I think AIR should write off "Pocket Symphony" and tour with Gainsbourg ("5:55" is much closer to being a proper AIR album)--Jarvis could even sit in the corner and just look pretty.

LOVE, DAVID

POST SCRIPT: I mean, honestly "The Operation" is better than anything on "Pocket Symphony".

POST POST SCRIPT: I promise this is the last time I mention it...

I am completely behind when it comes to new indie/folk records...
