Oh, the things kids say that people say

Maybe this is only funny to us but we're trying to cross a busy street to get to a park this afternoon with the whole family and this car is driving unpredictably so Cath goes "Drive, you idiot," which is what you say in that situation. J won't let it go: "Why did Mommy say 'Drive, you idiot?'" over and over. Then she starts practicing it, softly, to herself: "Drive, you idiot. Drive, you idiot."

In other news, we're trying to think of fun things to do on a Saturday in Chicago that's coming up soon. We'll be without kids. I know things I like to do there, but a part of me doesn't want to do the same old things. I know, for example, that I don't want to see the Field Museum's collection of Northwest Coast Indian culture again. For some museums, 20 visits is enough.

So I'm open to suggestions for what else is there to do in Chicago.

I would suggest going to see lesbian tribute band Lez Zeppelin or guitar god Yngwie Malmsteen, both of whom are playing in Chicago this weekend. Or maybe go check out Milwaukee.

You could go to the Sear's tower. Or not.

Hmm...Chicago.. I've only been there once to a trade show with my Dad for wholesale-type things.

There's a lot of weirdos though.

P.S. - I miss being in your class; my English teacher sucks.

Mr. Hill, while I think asking a question with a million answers like "what is there to do in Chicago?" is a pretty feeble ploy to rack up the comment tally, I will say that Navy Pier is probably a sure winner for the kids, as is a simple stroll down (or up) the Magnificnet Mile with a nice latte, a visit to the beach to skip stones, or maybe take a boat ride on the Chicago river and see if a rock star's tour bus empties its chemical toilet on your head.

The Belle & Sebastian show is exactly why we're heading to town in the first place. What to do on Saturday is what I'm trying to figure out now.

Stereolab is playing Saturday night, but I haven't been super keen on their records for a few years. Their shows are supposed to be pretty good, though.
