A few recent snaps.

J gets tired being in front of the camera all day.

I have a couple of cameras. For film, I use a Pentax with a 35mm lens or sometimes a medium format Pentax. I also have a plastic camera, an Holga, that is fun to use, though it usually takes crap pictures. That's part of the fun, though.

The pictures on this site were taken by a Konica-Minolta 5D, a great camera that I just learned is going to be discontinued because the company is going out of business. I think I gave them bad luck by buying one of their products.

I think you are really good with light. Always have. Is it more to do with you or with the camera, you think? I've been meaning to take a photography class (just one of those continuing ed) things for years now, and it looks like I might actually be able to do it this year.

Hey, thanks, man. I think one huge advantage of a digital slr is that you can take a ton of pictures--many more than you would if you had to pay to develop or take the time to develop your own. As a result, you can cherry pick your best shots to show to people and create the illusion that you are good when in fact you are just lucky.

If you look at the proof sheets of famous photographers like Cartier-Bresson or whoever, you see how much pure crap they shot. They ended up with famous images in large part because they shot zillions of frames.

Taking a class would be fun. There is something about having someone give you an assignment that really helps you get out there and try new things.
